Sustainable Phone Speakers x Chargers
Shangri-La Hotel HK Upcycling Competition By Ruby Wu (Individual)
PROJECT BRIEF
/ Shangri-La Hotel is a well-known International Luxury Hotel, as well as in Hong Kong. However, there are disposables that are being thrown away every day from the hotel. For instance, glass bottles, bed sheets and wooden wine boxes. I want to raise awarenesses of the users to stop generating glass bottle wastage and show how useful glasses are. DESIGN CONCEPT / Using the woodcraft and glass cutting technique , DrunkenBox transformed unused material (i.e. glass bottles and wine boxes) from Shangri-La Hotel into acoustic instruments. It enhances its functional value by adding different acoustic performance and creates brand new user experiences. Wooble, Dubbly and Malaki are the three speakers that designed for three different user scenarios in Shangri-La Hotel. User can plug his/her phone into the device, and while waiting or idling, they can prefer to play music from their own mobile devices in DrunkenBoxes. |
